Instagram has a famous feature that everyone knows about; the likes. But, Instagram has been doing an experiment. They have decided to take out the most characteristic thing about the app; for prove if changing that feature could work well; the experiment has been done in Australia, Brazil, Japan, New Zealand, Italy and Canada; but is now changing for start doing it globally.
Jessica Quero a freelance Community manager, affirms: “new content on Instagram is only shown between a 7 and a 15% of users' followers”.
A selected "small portion" of users, will be selected randomly to take part in the experiment, and, if the results are favorable, Instagram will start making changes after the next update of the app.
The likes would remain in the app as as said, they are the characteristic thing about it. But, the way the users would see them would be very different. As Instagram has said: “We want your followers to focus on what you share, not how many likes your posts get.” Doing this change, the thing they try to change this for the users not to be discriminated by the likes they receive and to focus more on the content by allowing the users to see only their own likes and not others’.

Jessica Quero, is a freelance Community manager who has a blog in which she talks about Instagram. In her blog, she makes reference to some data about Instagram saying that “new content is only shown between a 7 and a 15% of users' followers”.
When we wrote her she told that, “likes are important but it is more important the content you upload and how often do you interact with your followers”.
She also recommend to look into the statistics provided by the app for getting better results when uploading a picture if we want to get likes; but, that she is not worried about the banishing of the likes as they are not as important as everyone thinks.
