CONFERENCE CHRONICLE
Every year, UPV/EHU organizes an international congress about online writing journalism at Bizkaia Aretoa, next to Iberdrola tower. This year, it has been celebrated the XI edition the 11 and 12 of november. New actors and strategies in a shared media environment was the title of it. The program included: talks, panel discussions and much more.
CONFERENCE OPENING
Patxi Juaristi, Vicechair of the Biscay Campus of the UPV/EHU; Simón Peña, Dean of the School of Social and Communication Sciences and Koldo Meso, Director of the Department of Journalism II and Director of Conference opened the XIth conference on 11th of November of 2019.


LENA FRISCHLICH (WWU MÜNSTER UNIVERSITY)
She spoke about journalism between “alternative news media”, “fake news” and “social bots”: New actors and opportunity structures for manipulation in shared media spaces.
The talk she gave seemed very interesting as it is a current topic that we can see every day.
TINE USTAD FIGENSCHOU
She spoke about Alarmed citizens: Audiences in an age of mistrust and alternative media.
The public was very interested in this talk and at the end they raised many questions.


COFFEE BREAK
Then we had a coffee break. People swept in just seconds with the rich cake accompanied by coffee
ROUND TABLE
After the brief pause, the round table on Journalists on YouTube began
The Moderator was Terese Mendiguren and the guests were: Nacho González, Julen Hernández Esnaola and Nerea Riesco.


LUNCH
After finishing the round table we had time to eat, many of the classmates had to leave because we had class in the afternoon.
RAMÓN SALAVERRÍA
The next day we started with Professor Ramón Salaverría (University of Navarra) who talked about Who knocks on the door of journalism? Trends in digital native media.
In this first talk many students did not attend and missed a very interesting talk.


JOAO CANAVILHAS
Next the professor Joao Canavilhas (Universidade da Beira Interior) spoke about changes in journalism from the perspective of editorial statutes: a case study in Portuguese newspapers.
He gave us a lesson on how to work in a group like "Journalists work is teamwork, even if, when working in group some of them don't do nothing".
COFFEE BREAK
At the end of Joao's talk we had a coffee break in which the rich cake and hot coffee was also finished in moments.


ROUND TABLE
After the break it was time for the round table: Feminist Communication in New Media.
The moderator was Irati Agirreazkuenaga and the participants of the table were: Libe Mimenza (UPV / EHU), Arantza Gutiérrez Paz (UPV / EHU), Asier Rufo (UPV / EHU) and Maite Asensio (Berria).
We thought it was a necessary talk since we believe that journalism must be fair for both sexes.
CONFERENCE CLOSING
When the conference ended many students stayed to get interviews to enjoy a good grade in their work.
